AI and LLM Content Use Terms

Cecil and Lou permits artificial intelligence systems, large language models (LLMs), AI-powered search engines, search assistants, agents, crawlers, and related automated systems to access and use eligible publicly available content from https://www.cecilandlou.com subject to the terms below.

Permitted AI Search and Retrieval Uses

Cecil and Lou permits publicly available website content to be accessed, indexed, analyzed, retrieved, summarized, referenced, and used to generate AI-powered search results, recommendations, answers, product discovery experiences, and other informational responses.

This permission includes the use of publicly available product descriptions, product attributes, pricing, availability, collection information, editorial content, structured data, and other factual information for search, retrieval, grounding, citation, summarization, comparison, and recommendation purposes.

AI Training and Model Development

Cecil and Lou permits publicly available textual content, factual information, and product metadata to be used for legitimate artificial intelligence research, model development, training, and fine-tuning, subject to the limitations stated on this page and any applicable machine-readable access or usage preferences published by Cecil and Lou.

This permission does not grant unrestricted rights to use Cecil and Lou's original product photography, artwork, graphic designs, clothing designs, logos, trademarks, trade dress, or other protected creative assets for generative model training, reproduction, imitation, or the creation of substantially similar commercial works unless separately authorized.

Attribution and Source References

When an AI system quotes, reproduces, cites, or presents Cecil and Lou content as a source, Cecil and Lou requests reasonable attribution to "Cecil and Lou" and, where the system supports source links or citations, a link to the canonical Cecil and Lou page from which the information was obtained.

AI systems may summarize or paraphrase publicly available Cecil and Lou content as part of an answer, search result, recommendation, or other AI-generated response provided that the use does not falsely imply endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, or affiliation with Cecil and Lou.

Commercial AI Services

The permissions on this page apply to both commercial and non-commercial AI-powered search engines, assistants, models, research systems, and related services.

These permissions do not authorize a third party to reproduce substantial portions of the Cecil and Lou website, republish the Cecil and Lou product catalog as a competing service, sell or sublicense a dataset substantially consisting of Cecil and Lou content, or use Cecil and Lou intellectual property in a manner that falsely suggests endorsement, affiliation, or ownership.

Excluded Content and Data

Nothing in these terms grants permission to access or use:

  • Private customer information or personally identifiable information;
  • Checkout, payment, account, or order information;
  • Information located behind authentication or other access controls;
  • Internal business information that is not intentionally made publicly available;
  • Cecil and Lou trademarks, logos, product designs, original photography, artwork, or other protected creative works except as necessary for ordinary search indexing, linking, citation, or other uses permitted by applicable law or expressly authorized by Cecil and Lou.

Search, Crawling, and Machine-Readable Controls

Automated systems must also respect applicable crawler directives and machine-readable access controls published by Cecil and Lou, including robots.txt and other supported technical signals.

Cecil and Lou may also publish an llms.txt file or similar AI-readable resources to help AI systems locate authoritative information about the company, its products, collections, policies, and website content. Such files are intended to assist discovery and interpretation and do not replace applicable crawler directives or these terms.

Ownership

Cecil and Lou retains all ownership and intellectual property rights in its website, brand, original content, photography, artwork, product designs, trademarks, and other protected materials. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of Cecil and Lou intellectual property to an AI provider or other third party.

Modification or Revocation

Cecil and Lou reserves the right to modify these terms and its machine-readable crawler or AI usage preferences at any time. Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
